Breakfast is the most important meal and that basically gets inscribed in our brains at such an early age. It’s the fuel our body needs to get us going and on the right track to function at our best each day.
By starting with a protein-packed breakfast, you’re more likely to be efficient and effective throughout your day, but far too often, we skip breakfast due to busy schedules, rushed mornings, or not having the proper resources – Smithfield answers the call with simple and convenient, yet hearty and wholesome, products.
If most mornings consist of eating frozen waffles, cereal or donuts, consider Smithfield and this easy Microwavable Omelet in a Mug breakfast recipe. It’s perfect for those wanting a complete breakfast but in a fraction of the time.
Simply combine your favorite omelet ingredients for this egg in a mug recipe. I was sure to use Smithfield Anytime Favorites diced ham which makes this meal not only easy to prepare, but also adds protein and is so delicious. You can use my recipe as a guide, but feel free to add in different ingredients or even swap out ingredients. For example, you can totally leave out the cheese or use chopped tomato instead of red pepper.
My kiddos have been enjoying the Microwavable Omelet in a Mug most mornings before school. They love it because it’s tasty, they can customize it, plus how fun is it to eat breakfast out of a mug. I love it because it’s so super quick and easy to cook up.
Easy or not, I always make sure that they go to school with a full belly! Did you know that school breakfast can have a potentially dramatic effect on students? “No Kid Hungry found that students who eat school breakfast have been shown to achieve 17.5% higher scores on standardized math tests and attend 1.5 more days of school per year” (Source: No Kid Hungry).
Smithfield is partnering with No Kid Hungry, an organization committed to providing innovative solutions to combat childhood hunger, to donate one million meals* to children in communities across America.
For every purchase you make of a Smithfield breakfast product, Smithfield will donate a meal to No Kid Hungry until October 31st. Post a picture of your Smithfield breakfast to your social channels (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and tag it #breakfastpower and Smithfield will donate a second breakfast to No Kid Hungry.
