I followed the recipe exactly (including your homemade Italian seasoning) and it came out perfectly. So easy and delicious. I even used some of the sauce on the steamed green beans I served with it and it flavored them perfectly. This is a nice change from stir fry – which is how I usually fix shrimp.

Ingredients for Baked Shrimp
I love that this baked shrimp recipe is so simple to make with just 4 ingredients, no marinade required, and turns out super tasty! Here’s what you’ll be needing:
You can find the measurements for this recipe in the recipe card below.

- Shrimp. I like using medium to large shrimp or prawns for this recipe. And fresh-caught shrimp is best! You can leave the tail on or take it off. We prefer to take the tail off because it makes the shrimp easier to consume when served over pasta.
- Italian seasoning. I highly recommend my homemade Italian seasoning mix to flavor the shrimp. It’s easy to make, so tasty and doesn’t include any weird ingredients like the store-bought packets. It’s also great to have in your spice collection because it can be used to season so many other dishes.
- Butter. You’ll need just a bit of butter to create the perfect “sauce” combined with the Italian seasoning and lemon.
- Lemon. Cooking the shrimp with lemon slices allows the fresh lemon juice to release right onto the shrimp, adding so much amazing brightness to every bite.
How to Bake Shrimp
Baking shrimp couldn’t be easier! Here’s a quick rundown of the process, but for full printable instructions and video, reference the recipe card at the bottom of the post.

Step 1: Combine ingredients. Add all ingredients to a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread into a single layer, stirring to ensure the butter and Italian seasoning completely coats the shrimp.

Step 2: Bake. Place shrimp in the oven at 350ºF and bake until the shrimp are cooked through, about 9-13 minutes. They will be pink and opaque when cooked.

Step 3: Serve. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm, spooning sauce over shrimp. We love to enjoy the shrimp and lemon butter sauce with pasta, rice and/or crusty bread! So good!
Kim’s Recipe Tips
- Watch the color. Raw shrimp is grayish. As it bakes, it will turn opaque whitish-pink. Keep an eye on it, it only takes about 10 minutes. Cook time may vary depending on the size of the shrimp.
- Check the shape. Fully cooked shrimp curl into a loose “C.” Tight “O” shapes mean they’re overcooked, and undercooked shrimp will still have gray spots and form a flexible “U.”
- Prep shortcut. Buy shrimp that’s already peeled and deveined to save time and effort.
- Tails on or off. Leaving the tails on looks nice in photos but can be messy to eat. Remove them if you prefer.
- Other spices and herbs. For a little kick, stir in ¼–½ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes. Feel free to experiment with garlic powder, smoked paprika, Old Bay seasoning, or fresh parsley.
- Best served fresh. Serve right away for the best taste and texture, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 2–3 days. Reheat in the oven, microwave, air fryer, or in a skillet on the stove for a few minutes.
Serving Suggestions
- Serve over rice. A bed of steamed white or brown rice soaks up all those delicious juices and turns baked shrimp into a hearty, satisfying meal.
- Toss with pasta. Add to buttery linguine or angel hair pasta for a simple and elegant dinner that comes together in minutes.
- Serve as an appetizer. Arrange on a platter with cocktail sauce, garlic aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce for a crowd-pleasing starter.
- Add to a salad. Top a fresh green salad, caesar salad or Italian salad with the shrimp for a light and protein-packed lunch or dinner.
- Layer into a grain bowl. Serve bowl-style with quinoa, roasted or sautéed veggies, and your favorite dressing for a nutritious and filling meal.
- Serve with sides. Roasted broccoli and tender baby potatoes are a natural fit, just toss them with olive oil, salt, and black pepper and pop them in the oven on a baking sheet with the shrimp for an easy, all-in-one meal.
