Don’t worry – it doesn’t have to be fresh strawberry season to make this one. Ingredients needed

  • Frozen strawberries. We recommend frozen strawberries for extra creamy thick results, but fresh strawberries will work as well.
  • Greek yogurt. Greek yogurt adds a decent amount of protein and will make your smoothie extra creamy. Feel free to use any kind you wish. We went with plain Greek yogurt, but vanilla or strawberry would work too.
  • Milk. We like to use unsweetened almond or cashew milk because these options are low in calories and high in vitamins and minerals, they also give a good consistency. Feel free to use any milk (dairy-free or not) that you like.
  • Oats. We used rolled oats to add a little heartiness and to help thicken thicken this healthy strawberry smoothie.
  • Flavor makers. A little vanilla extract and almond extract brings all of the flavors together
  • Optional. Add 1-2 packets of Stevia or 1-2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey to sweeten this further, if needed. You can also add a scoop of vanilla protein powder to add flavor and extra protein.

Pro tip: to keep this smoothie 100% plant-based, use a dairy-free yogurt and milk!

How to make this recipe

This strawberry smoothie recipe is quick, easy, and simple to make! Here’s the easy process:

  1. Add all the ingredients to a high-speed blender or food processor.
  2. Process until it’s nice and smooth, then give it a quick taste. I find strawberries to be so sweet that this recipe is fine as is, but if you’d like a sweeter smoothie, feel free to add in a packet or two of Stevia or a teaspoon or two of maple syrup or honey. If you like your smoothie extra thick (I do!), blend in some ice.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Variations

  • Make it a protein shake. For extra protein, add a serving of your favorite vanilla or flavorless protein powder.
  • Make it tropical. Add a tropical frozen fruit such as mango or pineapple to add extra sweetness.
  • Sneak in veggies. The best way to increase greens in your diet is in a smoothie! Add a handful of spinach leaves or frozen riced cauliflower before blending. You won’t be able to taste either!
  • Swap the berry. Feel free to use any kind of frozen berries in this recipe to really make it your own. We love blueberries, raspberries and even cherries, or a combination.
  • Other add-ins. For a boost of nutrition, mix in chia or flax seeds or nuts (walnuts, peanuts, cashews, or almonds), you can also add a drizzle of peanut butter or almond butter.
