If you’re looking for a sweet treat made with apples, this cinnamon streusel apple bread is the perfect one! Filled with fresh apples and topped with an irresistible cinnamon streusel, this apple bread recipe is a MAJOR hit with my family! It's easy to make and bakes up moist, sweet and delicious.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9x5 inch loaf pan with cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper; set aside. Stir together flour, baking powder, salt and 1/2 cup sugar. Cut in butter until it forms to coarse crumbs. I grated my stick of butter using a cheese grater. Reserve 1/2 cup of this mixture for the topping; set aside.
Stir in apples and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon to the remaining mixture.
In a small bowl, mix egg and milk well together. Add to apple/flour mixture and stir until just combined.
Pour batter into loaf pan. Add remaining 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar to the reserved flour mixture. Stir together until blended, then sprinkle over top of the batter in the loaf pan. Press down lightly.
Bake in the center of the oven for 55-60 minutes, or until inserted toothpick comes out clean. My bread was done in 55 minutes. Let cool for 10 minutes prior to cutting and serving.
Notes
*Any type of milk will work. I use unsweetened vanilla cashew milk.Storing leftovers: Wrap any leftover apple bread in plastic wrap and store on the counter for a day or two. Any longer than that and I would refrigerate it, wrapped tightly and placed in an airtight container.Freezing: To freeze, let the bread cool completely. Slice the loaf and then wrap individual slices tightly in plastic wrap. Place the individually wrapped slices into a large freezer-safe ziplock bag, remove any air, and store in the freezer. Bread will keep well in the freezer for up to two months.
