This Mexican Hot Chocolate is creamy with warm spices and so perfect to enjoy on a chilly winter evening.

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon The Watkins Co. ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon The Watkins Co. cloves
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon The Watkins Co. vanilla extract
  • Optional garnish: whipped cream, nutmeg, marshmallows, crushed peppermint and/or chocolate chips

Instructions

  • Combine all ingredients (except milk and vanilla) in a medium pot over medium heat and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add milk and let it get hot, but don't bring it to a boil.
  • Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Laddle into mugs and serve with your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

Notes

Feel free to add a couple of dashes of chili powder or ground cayenne to the mix, if you want a little extra kick to your hot chocolate.
