Hmmm… well that just might be the strangest title of all of my blog posts, so far. But it’s Friday, so just roll with it! Happy Friday, by the way! Does anyone have anything exciting planned? I don’t have anything at all planned and I will be enjoying every minute of an easy relaxing weekend…. hopefully it stays that way. If your weekend is as laid back as mine; maybe you’ll find time to start a new book. And if that’s the case, you might just want to check out The Silent Wife, by A. S. A. Harrison. How’s that for a smooth segue? 🙂

A review of The Silent Wife by A. S. A. Harrison

Before this book came along, I was in a bit of a reading funk. Everything I started out reading ended up boring me to tears (not really, but you know what I mean). Here’s a little history…. Firefly Lane- I finished it, but I wasn’t really a fan; Eat, Pray, Love…. started out great, but got really boring; The Book Thief- a total bore (in my opinion); Me Before You…. LOVED; The Girl You Left Behind…. really liked; The Invention of Wings…. another complete bore. After trying to get into The Invention of Wings for way too long, I gave up on reading for a couple of months. It just so happened I came across a popup advertising The Silent Wife. It was something about, “if you liked Gone Girl, you will like The Silent Wife. Gone Girl is pretty much one of my favorite books ever, so I was anxious to give The Silent Wife a try. {I’m going to sprinkle in some hummus pictures with the review. Hope you don’t mind! ;)}

I’ll just go ahead and put it out there….. The Silent Wife is not as good as Gone Girl, but it was an interesting read that kept me intrigued and wanting to read more. Also, I’m not sure that I would compare The Silent Wife to Gone Girl. They are both about a crumbling marriage, told through the perspectives of each spouse and center around the lengths that a person will go to, to keep what they feel is rightfully theirs, but that is where the similarity ends. Gone Girl is truly a psychological thriller with wild and crazy plot twists. The Silent Wife is more of a psychological character study of two captivating, but unlikeable people. It’s like watching a car crash in slow motion, and you just cannot take your eyes away.

I’m so sad that the author lost her battle with cancer last year as I would have enjoyed reading more of her novels. I hope I haven’t turned you off from reading The Silent Wife because it’s really quite compelling and thought provoking. Love this quote from the book- You make your choices when you’re far too young to understand their implications, and with each choice you make the field of possibility narrows. You choose a career and other careers are lost to you. You choose a mate and commit to loving no other. Is that not the truth or what? Now onto lighter subjects like, sun-dried tomatoes and hummus….

I got the idea for this hummus after I received a VERY generous shipment of Bella Sun Luci tomato products from Mooney Farms; including sun-dried tomatoes packed in olive oil, Bruschetta, tomato pesto sauce and tomato halves with olive oil and Italian herbs.  I’m absolutely loving these products! ….. remember the Sun-Dried Tomato and Feta Meatloaf. Yeah, I still need to post that recipe! The sun-dried tomatoes are fresh, tasty and add SO much flavor to meals. I love using them as a topping for my salads, pastas and pizzas. This Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus is smooth, creamy and almost tastes like pizza. It’s totally like pizza hummus and I’m completely down with that! Enjoy!
