Hi, guys! I finally bit the bullet and ordered my first Stitch Fix. I’m so glad I did too!

Stitch Fix is a personal styling service for women. You fill out a style profile, providing your style, size, and budget preferences. You can even link up your “Style Pinterest Board“. A professional stylist will then pick out items they think you’ll love —sometimes a little out of your comfort zone, but that’s part of the fun.

You will receive 5 picks to try on in the privacy of your own home, with your own wardrobe. Each item comes with styling tips on how to dress it up or down. Keep what you like and ship the rest back in a prepaid bag. There is a $20 styling fee that is applied to your order should you decide to keep any or all of the pieces. If you keep all five items, you get 25% off your entire order. Before placing your order, you’re prompted to give feedback on each item and the more info you give your stylist, the better they are at finding clothes you’ll love next time.

I’ve checked into it several times before, but I always shied away from actually going through with the order. I’m pretty picky about my clothes and the way they fit, so I really didn’t think receiving a box of surprise clothes was the way to go. This is coming from a girl who always knew what she was getting for birthdays and Christmas… because I always have to pick out my own clothes. 🙂 The surprise actually ended up being the best part of the whole experience- I got several things I would have never bought or probably even tried on, myself, but ended up loving!

Here’s a little look at my first fix. Landen did a pretty good job as photographer, except for cutting off my head in one shot and getting a little too close in another. These were taken in my bedroom, which we are in the process of remodeling, so that’s why the room looks a little bare.

First up is the Keli Maxi Dress ($78). This is something I would have never tried on because I typically don’t do long maxi dresses. I’m so short and I feel like they make me look even shorter. I really liked the material, it was super comfortable and I loved the heather gray. I wore this to work with a jean jacket and even got several compliments. I may have sent this back, but with the 25% off for keeping everything, it was basically only costing me $10. {Verdict: Keep}

The style card is shown below. I actually tried the dress with a scarf, but wasn’t feeling it. I need a denim vest- love that look! Here is a similar dress.

My favorite item in the fix was the Kensie ankle biter skinny jeans ($88). I’ve worn these so many times since receiving my items, it’s almost embarrassing. They also went great with the two shirts I received. I usually buy my jeans at Gap or White House Black Market and spend at the most about $70. These fit perfectly, though, and I know I’ll get tons of wear out of them. {Verdict: Keep}. Here are the exact jeans on amazon.com.

Kensie Jeans

As the style card shows, these jeans are great dressed up or down, with heels, sandals or flip-flops.

The shirt pictured above with the jeans is the Pixley Marlen Crew Neck Blouse ($54). Another item I never would have tried on. Just looking at the blouse in the box, I initially thought it was a no go. However, after trying it on (especially with the Kensie skinny jeans), I loved it. The fit is super cute and comfortable. It’s also dressy for work. {Verdict: Keep}

Same story with the Market and Spruce Floral Sleeveless Top ($44). Never would have tried it on, loved it with the jeans (yes, I love everything with these jeans!) and it will make a great work top. Cute flattering fit! {Verdict: Keep} (In the picture, I’m wearing the earrings that came in my fix.)

As the style card suggests, I’m sure I will get plenty of wear, pairing this shirt with shorts and skirts this summer.

Last, but definitely not least Bay to Baubles Delora Hammered Leaf Earrings ($28). On first sight, I thought these looked too large. I usually wear more dainty jewelry, but I simply love these earrings! {Verdict: Keep}

I’m already so excited about my next fix! You can set your fix to arrive every 2-3 weeks, monthly, every other month or every 3 months. Mine is set to arrive next month. I love shopping, but the truth is, I’m just too busy right now. I also really enjoyed adding some different pieces, that I wouldn’t normally buy, to my wardrobe.

Stitch Fix

You can see from my invoice that the $20 styling fee went towards the price of the items. You can also see my “buy 5 discount” totaled a whooping $68, so essentially the maxi dress was $10. Although not cheap, I don’t thing $200 is too bad for a couple of shirts, jeans, a maxi dress and earrings. When completing your style profile, you have the ability to let your stylist know how much is too much for specific items.

Something to think about….
