Healthy Snacks for the Beach Bag
The beach is my absolute most favorite place to be! My home may be in Texas, but Florida has my heart. For the last 5 years my family has been enjoying summer vacations in Destin, Florida. This year we wanted to explore a new beach town and decided on South Beach. The sun, sand and surf is my jam, but as much as I love hanging out on the beach, it can make me a hangry (hungry + angry) beast! Easy healthy snacks for the beach bag are a must!!
We flew to Miami and didn’t have a kitchen in our room, so we really needed to stock up on snacks that were prepackaged and didn’t need refrigeration. That’s way harder than it sounds- don’t worry, I did the dirty work to roundup easy healthy snacks that are perfect for beaching-it, when you’re not taking a cooler.
I love taking fresh fruit to the beach. Apples always leave me super satisfied, especially when paired with nut butter, which can be found in individual serving-sized packages. Dried fruit and fruit bars are also the perfect way to satisfy my sweet tooth… you know me and that sweet tooth!
My kiddos seem to gravitate toward snack food like crackers and chips. I have to admit these foods are really convenient. They’re typically prepackaged and there’s no worry with them getting too warm. You can even use individually packaged nut butter as a dip for crackers or pretzels.
Bars are also super convenient. I would avoid anything with chocolate or a bar that may be too messy in the heat. Look for bars that have plenty of protein and are lower in sugar.
Last, but definitely not least are protein sources. Blue Diamond Almonds are my favorite, for sure, because there are so many flavor options. Brad’s choice is the Sriracha and mine the Toasted Coconut… honestly, though, I haven’t met a flavor I didn’t like. Jerky and tuna are also great choices. I like mixing my tuna with mashed avocado and Landen really enjoyed the tuna kits pictured below.
There you have it- my favorite healthy snacks for the beach bag. These are the foods that my family enjoys and have proven to work well for us on the beach. Did I miss anything? Please, chime in. What snacks do you typically bring along to the beach?
