Happy Halloween, friends!!! Whether you’re taking the kids out trick-or-treating or staying home to pass out candy; I hope you’ve got a fun evening planned. I’ll be out trick-or-treating with my kiddos and nieces…. the weather is supposed to be super nice, so I’m looking forward to a great evening with my mom, sister and all of the kids.

Healthy Crinkle Cookie Truffels

Now how about something sweet on this beautiful Halloween day? That’s what I thought! 😉 I came across a recipe for little crinkle cookie balls in an old (7/8/13) People magazine. They looked so yummy and the ingredients looked like they would be pretty easy to healthify, so I decided to do a little experimenting. They ended up turning out so wonderful and my whole family gobbled them up in less than a day….oops.

Crinkle Cookie Truffles

A pretty little sweet treat for your next holiday party!


  • ¼ cup coconut oil, melted
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/3 cup sugar, I used coconut sugar, but regular sugar or xylitol would work too
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour, or all-purpose flour
  • ¾ tsp. baking powder
  • 1/3 cup mini chocolate chips, I like Enjoy Life brand
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar


  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Whisk coconut oil and cocoa together, in a large bowl until smooth; set aside.
  • Whisk together eggs, sugar, salt and vanilla in a medium bowl until smooth. Gradually add egg mixture to chocolate mixture, whisking until well-blended.
  • Whisk flour and baking powder together in a small bowl. Stir flour mixture into chocolate until well-blended. Stir in chocolate chips. Cover and chill dough for 30 minutes or until dough is firm enough to handle easily.
  • Place powdered sugar in a shallow bowl. Scoop dough and form into ¾-inch balls; roll in powdered sugar. Arrange cookies on baking sheet. Bake for 5 to 8 minutes. Cool cookies 1 minute on baking sheet; transfer to wire rack and cool completely.


Cookies freeze well, making them the perfect make-ahead dessert. Just let cool completely on a wire rack before storing in a ziptop bag or airtight container.
