The best hummus ever!!

I seriously love most any hummus and typically go for the roasted red pepper. By the way, if you haven’t tried Trader Joe’s eggplant hummus, it’s to die for. The recipe I’m sharing with you today is absolutely one of the best original hummuses {is that even a word?} I’ve ever tried!!

I have to say that the meal plan for the 7-day Kick Start on Body Revolution is getting a teensy bit old. I’m for sure sticking to it, but I’m so ready for this week to end. Jillian’s pancakes will definitely be on the meal plan for next week. At least, I’m able to have some of this delicious hummus for my snack!

This recipe is so simple…almost just as simple, as throwing the prepackaged hummus into your cart. And this way, you get to control the ingredients.

Best Ever Original Hummus (makes 2 cups; 16 (2 tbsp) servings)

1 (15 oz) can no-sodium chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained
1/4 cup (about 1 lemon) fresh lemon juice, or to taste
3 tbsp tahini
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1/2 tsp salt

Drain chickpeas over a measuring cup; reserve 1/4 cup of the captured liquid.
In the bowl of a food processor, add all ingredients (chickpeas, chickpea liquid, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, and salt).
Process until very smooth, about 1 minute.
Store in a tightly sealed container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

I LOVE Hummus!! I could eat it with a spoon, just like that. I have several Hummus recipes on the blog (eggplant hummus, guac-hummus) and I whip up a big jar almost every week :-) Love that you added Tahini, I have that at home, so must give it a try!!

If you asked me a year ago whether or not I liked hummus, I would have told you NO.. but within the past year I cannot seem to get enough of it! Seriously, on sandwiches; salads; eggs.. you name it, i’ve probably had it on there.. okay don’t ask bananas bc that sounds gross, Ha Ha!

…. okay now that I just went on a pointless ramble, this recipe sounds awesome. Love the simple ingredients and preparation of it too!

I am absolutely obsessed with hummus, and I go through containers of it WAY too fast. I should really start making my own because it would likely be more economical!

I have not tried the eggplant hummus from TJ’s (but definitely will!), but I LOVE their tomato basil flavor. It is awesome!

I make hummus at home, and always jazz it up with different flavors. But that’s because I’ve never found a traditional hummus recipe that I liked as much as a packaged version. I can’t wait to try this! Whenever you get excited about something, I know it’s got to be good. I’m pinning this to try! Thanks!

It’s really good. Another reader had the suggestion of adding a little cumin powder, which I think would be really good too.
