Holiday Fat Blaster & Healthy Holiday Snack

Happy day! Did you splurge a bit over Thanksgiving? I know I did and I think that’s okay! Balance is the key to living a healthy lifestyle and if you can’t let loose during the holidays, when can you?

Well If you did splurge, are you ready to get back on track for a couple of weeks? I have two “healthy” things to help you out.

First, a workout…..
I’ve pretty much been doing this workout everyday since before Thanksgiving. Jamie Eason posted it on her Facebook page and said that she found it on Pinterest and has been doing it every morning. I’m not sure about the original source. If someone knows shoot me an email and I’ll give them credit.

This is a quick workout to use as a jumpstart to your day in the morning first thing when you wake up or to add-on to another workout. I’ve been doing 2 rounds after my runs. Believe me, it’ll get the blood flowing! For an added challenge; time yourself on round #1 and try to beat your time on round #2.

Now, for a healthy snack that tastes like your still being “bad”……..

1. Grind pecans and then set aside. 2. Pit dates. I get these medjool dates at Costco and I find using kitchen shears to cut the pit out is the easiest and quickest way to get the pit out. 3. Grind dates. 4. Add in all other ingredients, including ground pecans (except cranberries and chocolate chips) in with the dates and process. 5. Add in the cranberries and chocolate chips and process in with all other ingredients. 6.  Form mixture into balls. Mixture will be somewhat crumbly, just press firmly with your hands and the balls will become really firm once they are refrigerated.

Chocolate Cranberry Pecan Crunch Balls
Recipe type: snack, dessert
Prep time:
Total time:
Perfect combination of a yummy crunch from the cereal with a delicious chocolate flavor and a slight tartness from the dried cranberries. Makes about 16 balls.
  • 12-14 medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 cup pecan halves
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa
  • ½ cup brown rice cereal (I used chocolate koala crisp from Nature's Path Envirokidz.)
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ½ cup dried cranberries
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips (I use Enjoy Life semi-sweet chocolate mini chips.)
  1. Grind pecans in food processor. Remove from food processor and set aside.
  2. Grind dates in food processor. Add pecans, vanilla, brown rice cereal, and cocoa into the food processor with dates. Process for about 30 seconds and until all ingredients are combined.
  3. Add the chocolate chips and cranberries in with the rest of the ingredients and process for about 15 seconds.
  4. Press mixture into balls. Balls will firm up in the fridge.
  5. Store in the fridge for a week or longer.

Anyone get any great deals on Cyber Monday?
I did….Christmas cards from and an 11-year-old boy thing! 😉

Who’s finished their Christmas shopping?
Not finished yet, but I’ve made a pretty big dent.

Any favorite healthy snacks that are more like treats?
Brad said this was his favorite “ball” that I’ve made and I would have to agree!

Happy Tuesday!
